Selva Lee Weaver was born in Allen Springs, Kentucky on October 30, 1914.  He died in a tragic accident in or near Liberia, Costa Rica on December 17, 1958.  He was my father and until that day he was the most important man in my life. Only 16 years old at the time of his death, I learned much from him but the most important thing he instilled in me was to love and respect all people regardless of their color, religion or station in life.

At the time of my father's death, he was the Superintendent over the construction of the PanAmeican Highway in Costa Rica.  Tomorrow, I will ride that highway from Liberia to San Jose Costa Rica and almost certainly will pass the point at which my father lost his life almost 50 years ago.

In some small way, this ride, particularly tomorrow's, is a tribute to my father.
